Reshape Your Instagram Experience With a Fresh Recommendations Reset

Instagram is testing an exciting new feature that lets users reset their content recommendations in Explore, Reels, and Feed. This option allows for a “fresh start,” enabling your recommendations to realign with your current interests and interactions over time. Alongside this, you’ll also have the chance to review and unfollow accounts that no longer resonate with you.
Curating Your Digital Space

This new tool complements Instagram’s existing personalization features. For instance, you can use “Interested” or “Not Interested” options to refine Explore content or hide posts with specific words using Hidden Words. Teens can also select topics like travel or sports to see more relevant content in their feeds, ensuring their Instagram aligns with their evolving interests.

Beyond recommendations, Instagram offers features like the Following Feed, which shows posts in chronological order, and Favorites, where users can prioritize specific accounts. Tools such as “Close Friends” and “Your Activity” empower users to manage their digital spaces and online footprints effectively.
Prioritizing Age-Appropriate Experiences

Instagram remains committed to ensuring a safe platform, especially for teens. Protections like Teen Accounts and stricter content visibility rules for younger users help maintain a positive environment. Mature or sensitive content is either hidden from teens or excluded from recommendations entirely.
Transparency and Empowerment

A new page in Instagram’s Transparency Center explains how these features work to protect teens and create personalized, safe experiences. It outlines content moderation practices and highlights tools parents and teens can use to shape a more tailored Instagram experience.

This global rollout aims to make Instagram a space where interests evolve and users feel more connected to the content that matters to them.
